Effective Blog Commenting: Use Effective Blog Commenting for Increased Blog Traffic
Nearly everyone agrees one of the more effective social media platforms to access increased traffic is a blog. After adding effective blog commenting into the mix, blog traffic results can be significantly increased.
When you combine a continual flow of value-oriented content with SEO optimized software such as WordPress, the stage is set to gain excellent page position on the search engines. Though this process often takes time to create enough content such that the search engines provide decent page rank, it can often be shortened by creating social buzz via content syndication.
The use of effective blog commenting is another tool often allowing you to add a little tidbit of valuable information to someone’s blog and draw increased traffic from the blog owner and their readers.
Does that mean you can just surf over to any related blog, make a comment and expect an instantaneous surge in traffic to your site?
Only on rare occasions!
Though there are times when you comment on a blog post generating a significant amount of comment buzz and a short-term increase may occur; these instances are somewhat rare (though cool when they happen). Most often this process takes some time, so be patient.
A few other pointers to keep in mind to help use effective blog commenting to increase traffic back to your blog include:
• Search out bloggers in your niche with a quality blog, lots of readers, a steady stream of useful content and readers comments;
• Always post an honest comment by building on the original post and previous comments and by being authentic and insightful. Never be superficial;
• Become a regular reader and comment frequently on the blog; not only on the new posts but repeat comments on posts that you already posted on to help keep the “blog’s conversation” alive (I have personally used this approach to be social and it has also delivered more visitors to my blogs);
• Always be respectful when leaving comments even when expressing a different viewpoint from the blogger or their readers; and
• Don’t fret the fact the blog may be “no-follow” (the default for WordPress for example) rather than “do-follow”. Even though you may not get the back-link credit, you still have an active link to your blog which is a direct path not just another small SEO enhancement.
Always keep in mind that blogs are another of the social media platforms and should be treated as such. When you take the time to be social while offering value oriented comments, those comments will be more effective and result in increased blog traffic over time!

interaction and feedback are what its all about and feedback gives us view points that we might no see.
Read Blogs of others – You learn a lot. Leave genuinely interesting comments. You Get known that way outside your own blog. Do so on Blogs of known as well as not so well known Bloggers. Do unto others what you would want them do unto you. Everyone starts sometime at the bottom and rise because others gave them an opportunity to get noticed.
Thanks for a great post and very useful advices. You are right that effective blog commenting can generate traffic to your blog. It will not happen overnight but time and patience will be rewardied in the long term. By providing effective comments, you build your image and establish yourself as a leader in your niche market.
Elaborate comments shows that you know what you are speaking about, that you have an opinion on the subject. As you mention all comments should be respectful, it is ok to disagree and everyone is entitle to their opinion but showing respect and adding on to the discussion will reinforce your image and in the long term more people will come to your own blog to see what else you can bring.
Hi Jim,
I really like to be socialable and comment on other peoples’ writings. Thanks for these specific encouragements about how to benefit and get more exposure for my own writing while being sociable and helpful to others at the same time.
Hmm respectful comments – well they can work – but downright rude can work too – in my experience – but not always in the way the poster intended LOL. I do think one of the most helpful things – and many blogger miss it – is to have the subscribe to comments via email option so you can come back to converstation- especially if it just refused to die!

I agree that blog comments should be insightful, enlightening or entertaining. Blog comments help the blog owner and the person posting as well as other readers of the blog.
Nice post Jim. I will be back to read more of your blog. I see interesting titles I want to read on. Well written and informative.
Thank you for this post. Being a newcommer to this content syndication network, your pointers are valuble. It really makes application and action a hole lot easier to execute.
Jim, you’re absolutely correct. Any blog owner should strive to receive valuable comments, because not only do they stir discussions, but they add new RSS feeds – which boosts SEO and can increase your rankings.
And contact blog owners is always a good idea. I’d go a bit further and contact big twitter account owners (5k+) – they can drive some serious traffic.

I agree with the points you make in this article, Blog commenting done intelligently is certainly a useful means of getting extra traction for the Blog, its readers and your own site too. However, it needs to be done properly as just submitting some junk comment will be highly unlikely to see the light of day with all the spam filters and owner approval of comments used these days.
Thanks for explaining how blog commenting works with the search engines. I had no idea they had so much impact on your rankings. Now I understand a little more on how SEO works on different levels.
